Where Reading Essentials and a Love for Reading Meet
The Reading Corner meets for 1 1/2 - 2 hour sessions. Students will be exposed to all the components of The Readers and Writer's Workshop.
All classes are taught by two certified teachers. The purpose of this is to offer small-group instruction, as well as allowing us to group children academically and truly differentiate your child's curriculum to meet his/her specific needs.
The Early Preschool program meets on Tuesday from 10:00-11:30.
This class is geared towards children that will be three years old by August 2010. The goal of this class is to expose children to early literacy skills, as well as help them become acclimated to a school setting. This class is a great way for your child to get comfortable and prepared for further preschool classes at The Reading Corner.
This class is geared towards children that are homeschooled or children that want a more advanced preschool experience. Children will not only be taught best practice in early literacy and writing, but will be taught early math and science skills to satisfy the most curious of minds. This program is taught by three teachers and the children will rotate to all three teachers, being exposed to reading and phonics, writing and handwriting, and math and science.
This program is geared towards homeschooled children that are currently in kindergarten or first grade, as well as children that are already reading in preschool. This program will aid as a supplement to your child's homeschool/preschool curriculum and will offer advanced phonics. Reading strategies, reading comprehension and writing skills. All of this is done in a small group setting which allows your child to participate in group discussion and active learning.
