Designed for preschool-aged children, The Reading Corner provides hands-on, individualized reading instruction to prepare children to become lifelong readers and learners. Using best practices, the Reading Corner focuses on reading essentials, providing quality instruction in a half-day setting.
Preschool-Age Children
The Reading Corner is geared toward preschoolers. It is an excellent enrichment program for children that are homeschooled, or as an alternative to the traditional preschool. The goal of the Reading Corner is not only to prepare children for Kindergarten, but to make them lifelong readers and learners. The curriculum will follow the Sunshine State Standards for Kindergarten, while incorporating best practices for reading and writing. A growing body of research is showing that high-quality pre-kindergarten yields academic benefits for children. It is our goal to lay the foundation for success in school – you’ll be amazed at what your child can learn!
The Reading Corner takes the most effective reading instruction and teaches children to love reading through dynamic, nurturing, hands-on learning experiences. Through authentic literature, poetry, literacy workstations, small-group instruction, and modeled reading strategies, children will get the necessary tools to become proficient at comprehending and decoding text.
